Backgrounds of New Board Members

Secretary - Dawn Brennan,
PMP, PE
Dawn Brennan is a senior project manager at the University of Michigan Health System. As a project manager within the Office of Clinical Affairs, Dawn is responsible for the initiation, planning, execution, and roll-out of enterprise-wide projects. Previous project management experience (15+ years) spans the education, consulting, manufacturing, and environmental sectors. Dawn holds a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, a Masters degree in Business Administration, and a Masters degree in Project Management.

As the Healthcare SIG Secretary, Dawn will be responsible for keeping the records of all business meetings of the SIG and of the board, including distribution of minutes and reports. She will work with the board to communicate the goals and objectives of the SIG as authorized by the Bylaws. Dawn will also work with the LIG components, ensure local components remain in compliance with the Bylaws of the SIG, and approve all documentation in the absence of the president. Her term begins
January 1, 2007 and transitions to vice president on January 1, 2008, president on January 1, 2009 and past president on January 1, 2010.

Treasurer - Katherine Hill
Katherine Hill is senior operations and systems strategy management consultant, ASAP Solutions.
Katherine has more than 10 years experience in organizational development both as a consultant and PMO director. She specializes in operations improvement consulting with an emphasis on revenue cycle, (program/performance management office) PMO design, operations and system re-engineering, and business strategy development. Katherine has a Bachelor of Science from North Dakota State University with post graduate studies in Management of Computer Information Systems at Georgia State University.

As the Healthcare SIG Treasurer, Katherine will oversee the management of funds for duly authorized purposes of the SIG, shall prepare the monthly account reconciliation report, annual budget, and shall present financial reports to the board and an annual financial report to the membership. Her term will commence on January 1, 2007 and expire on December 31, 2007.

Director of Education and Certification - Mary Armijo, M.S. CIS, PMP
Mary Armijo has a background in distance education, healthcare and project management. Her distance education background started in 2000 with the University of Maryland University College's Asian Division and continued with New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology Distance Education program. Transitioning to the healthcare sector as a project manager in 2004, Mary has successfully managed and completed a spectrum of large scale IT healthcare projects. Mary currently is a division project manager for Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) North Florida Division, managing projects for over 14 hospitals. Mary also is assisting with the management and development of emerging healthcare technologies to enhance patient care and improve clinical processes. Mary's project management experience encompasses analyzing and improving clinical workflow as well as integrating and managing the implementation of multiple technologies. For the past year Mary has been the online education development lead for the Healthcare SIG.

As the Healthcare SIG Director of Education and Certification, Mary will be responsible for the development of educational programs and other activities designed to support members' professional development and certification. Her term will commence on January 1, 2007 and expire on
December 31, 2008.

Director of Events - Elizabeth Allen
Elizabeth Allen is clinical application support team lead, NEMOURS. Beth has spent approximately 12 years of her professional career in healthcare, primarily within the acute care setting for national health systems such as Franciscan Health Systems, Catholic Health Initiatives, and Mercy Health System. Beth's responsibilities included the implementation of a variety of clinical and financial information systems. Her project management experience also includes work with Towers Perrin in the IT department. Additionally, she has provided consultative services on disaster recovery/business continuity projects within the healthcare and financial sectors. Currently, Beth is the team lead for staff members that project manage and support clinical information systems within Nemours - AI duPont Hospital for Children. Beth is a member of the Delaware Valley Chapter of PMI, HIMSS, and is ITIL Foundation Certified.

As the Healthcare SIG Director of Events, Beth will be responsible for managing the logistics and activities associated with conferences, the annual member meeting, regional education programs, etc. Her term will commence on January 1, 2007 and expire on December 31, 2008.

Director of Membership - Raymond McIntyre, PMP
Raymond McIntyre is senior consultant - healthcare informatics. Ray's experiences progressed from the departmental head of biomedical engineering for cardiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation to design and development project lead at Mallincrodt and then to senior consultant of Healthcare Informatics at Philips Medical Systems. Ray specialized in digital image quality standardization and developed imaging protocols for clinical trials. He also taught the physics of imaging to both radiology and cardiology residents. He contributed to elevating quality standards in both the clinical and vendor environment while responding to FDA audits in both settings. Ray has an engineering degree and has authored and co-authored seven publications in the engineering, medical physics and clinical imaging disciplines. Ray serves his local PMI Chapter as a PMP instructor.

As the Healthcare SIG Director of Membership, Ray will keep track of all membership lists given by PMI each month, shall oversee all communications and networking activities (i.e. newsletters, web site and local interest groups), is responsible for managing awards programs, administers the annual membership survey and oversees member retention activities. His term will commence on
January 1, 2007 and expire on December 31, 2008.

Web Site


Have you visited the SIG's web site lately? If not, this is the perfect time. Last month, a new site was launched -- with a fresh look and new resources. The content was also divided to be more user friendly for members. And we're not done yet. Coming in 2007, the SIG will launch a secure member area. Here, members will access free education, a career center, a blogger and more. Be on the lookout for more details. In the meantime, please take a look and tell us what you think.

 

Healthcare SIG Adding Practical PM Tips to the Web Site

The Heathcare SIG has partnered with Cheetah Learning to publish select articles from their monthly Know How Network column written by Michelle LaBrosse, CEO Cheetah Learning. Ms. LaBrosse is the author of numerous books and was selected by PMI in October 2006 as one of the 25 most Influential Women in Project Management worldwide and one of only two women from the training sector.

Hugo is responsible for coordinating all activities for the Healthcare SIG web site. This position will be responsible for conceptualizing and executing ideas based on the needs and wants of the SIG's membership. Hugo will report directly to the director of membership. Volunteer Opportunities

Discussion Board Monitors
Do you have experience in moderating online discussion groups? We are looking for one or two volunteers to monitor discussion groups and encourage networking between the Healthcare SIG members. Contact the director of membership services for more details.


Marketing Coordinator

Identifies requirements for, and creates, defines, and leads implementation of projects to support marketing of the SIG. Such projects can include initiatives to attract new members to the SIG, increase SIG member retention, improve SIG branding, positioning, communications, public relations, and image, as well as initiatives to market SIG products and services such as webinars, educational and marketing events, and local interest groups.
